Bidding for a Production Slot
Any members may bid to stage a production, and the bids for prospective productions are not decided by the committee, but by all drama students at a public vote. This means that the most popular production - the production that most students want to act in/ see produced – makes it on to the stage.
Students can work on productions in many capacities; directing, producing, writing, performing, choreography, stage management, technical directing, designing (set, costume, lighting, sound or multimedia), publicity or front of house. Over the years we have seen shows as diverse as A Streetcar Named Desire, Closer, Road, Arcadia, The Ash Girl amongst many others, as well as original works by students such as So This is What it Feels Like, which was developed and adapted from a play which was written for the playwriting course in the department. See some examples above!
