Midnight at the Boilerhouse
Midnight at the Boilerhouse (MatB) is The Student Workshop’s termly showcase of new writing that sees dance, music, readings, poetry, comedy and both self-contained ten minute plays and extracts from longer productions, including that term’s original piece. The opportunities that MatB has given writers and performers continue to become more and more invaluable. Students that have created and workshopped pieces for and in MatB have developed them into Student Workshop termly productions, pieces for Edinburgh Fringe; such as the highly recommended 5 star Max & Iván series, as well as further production spaces and used the explorative platform to develop professional theatre companies.
This year we are looking to maintain MatB’s success with even more new and exciting work from our talented students, pushing creative ambition working around the limited yet complimentary tech. Work submitted can be absolutely anything from plays to songs to comedy sketches as long as it's originally created! Members of the Student Workshop can audition to direct or perform in the pieces, and alongside new writers gain a valuable opportunity to receive feedback from lecturers, professionals and piers.
